

Vibrato is the changing of a pitch of a note in a rhythmic fashion. It can be performed very slowly or fast. This is a very important technique in developing ones artistic expression of the notes one plays. Each guitarists finds their own style when performing vibrato. Here are some pointers on helping you to develop this skill.
1. Vibrato can be done with the fingers or wrist however the wrist should perform most of the work.
2. Vibrato is usually used on a note that you are sustaining such as a note you might be bending or just holding out a bit longer.
3. Vibrato can be performed with an upward or downward motion. An upward motion is used on the 1st string most of the time to keep the string from sliding off the fret board.
4. Listen to other professional guitarists and try to pick up on how they perform vibrato.
